Challenge Me!

A huge thank you to everyone who has already contributed to the Heritage House Special School students’ Japan Journey.  Over the last month, so many people and organisations have pledged their financial and practical support, and we are almost there.  To read the Empowering Manager September article on this inspiring initiative, click here

Challenge me!

Last month when I was in Japan, I was visualising the students there and the amazing experiences they will have.   I’m so keen for them to be in Japan next Spring, I’ll do almost anything for money towards their trip.  So why not challenge me to do something in return for your contribution towards the Japan Journey!

If would like to make sure the Japan Journey will happen click here for details of how to contribute, email me.

Courage

A group of special students I know at Heritage House School in Buckinghamshire have been learning Japanese Taiko Drumming for the last year or so.  Six of these students and four adult helpers will be travelling to Japan in spring 2006 to learn with Taiko Drumming Master Kurumaya Sensei, and to study Japanese culture.

Heritage House School is for students with learning disabilities and I am so inspired by their courage and determination.  I have witnessed a transformation in these students, many of whom find it very hard to concentrate for more than a minute or so, and some have very challenging behaviour.

Seeing how engaged they are and the enjoyment and enthusiasm on their faces as they play together is a great thrill and a privilege.  I want to do all I can to support their visit to Japan and am honoured to be one of the adult helpers taking part.

We need to have pledges for the full costs of the journey (approximately £16,000) by the end of November this year.  I am aiming to raise all of the money needed for my own air fare and accommodation, plus enough for at least one student.  That is £3,200.  For those of you who would like to contribute to an experience of a lifetime for these extraordinary students, please email to let me know the amount you want to offer.
